Effective therapy is similar to effective body movements.
Apparently there are thousands of movement possibilities for the human body, but in spite of these options, only a small set of body movements are effective. I believe that cognitive-behavioral therapy is similar to effective body movements, although there are other ways to reach your goal, this is the first method you should try to tackle a problem. Only when this treatment is not helping you should consider other treatment options.
What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
Cognitive behavioral therapy is based on the idea that thoughts create reality The central principle of Cognitive behavioral therapy is that the way we think, interpret and give meaning to stimuli around us (and not the stimuli itself e.g. people, situations, and events) dictates what we feel and how we behaviors. Practicing CBT helps us change the way we think and thus the way we feel and act even if the situation does not change.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is not devoid of emotion!
Many clients think that Cognitive behavioral therapy is technical, mechanical and devoid of feeling but this is far from the truth. We go to therapy because we want to feel better!!! And Emotions are the founding stones of our experience and ultimately dictate whether or not we’ll be happy. In Cognitive behavioral therapy we care very much about your experience and feelings and treat them very seriously, but since Feeling are Very difficult to change directly we chose to chance thought because it’s the best way to change fillings. Clients often misconceive this tactical choice as a values choice.
